5 Things To Do Instead Of Giving Up

By Adejumobi A. A.
This week has been overwhelming. Mentally and emotionally overwhelming to be precise. Iโve been dreading the end of January and Iโm still extremely anxious about February but here we are.
It has never crossed my mind to give up because what exactly would I be giving up? The will to live? The desire to be better? My trust in God? The faith I have in my journey? The lessons Iโm learning from these tough times? The growth Iโm experiencing? What exactly would I be giving up?
Yes, I get tired and impatient time and again but giving up just never seems like a valid way out to me.
If giving up doesnโt seem like a valid way out, whatโs there to do when fatigue strikes and youโre so exhausted that you just canโt anymore?
Whatโs there to do when youโre not giving up but you actually lack the strength to carry on? Iโd recommend these 5 things but the thing is, you still need a certain amount of strength to do these things.
So if tired is what you are right now, take a break. Take a total break from everything including your worries and anxieties. Donโt forget your overthinking cap and obsessing over little mistakes garment. Be a โno future ambitionโ for once.
Focus on refreshing and relaxing. Distract yourself. Reboot. Take as much time as you need. If you donโt feel light and relieved afterwards, go back again. Keep at it until you feel light and relieved.
When you eventually feel light and relieved, try these 5 things:
EXPRESS GRATITUDE: itโs hard to be grateful when the things you do not have are so obvious, theyโve swallowed up the things you do have.
You: 0
Life: 100
How can expressing gratitude make sense in a situation like this?
Itโs really hard to be grateful when the universe and everything in it seems to be conspiring against you yet thereโs always something to be grateful for.
Expressing gratitude keeps you conscious of all you have therefore making you a happier person.
Find that silver lining in your cloud and be grateful for it. It could be clean water, fresh air or even a nice toothpaste.
PUT IN THE WORK: Joseph wasnโt just a dreamer. He was a doer. He was a solution provider. Do more that dream, put in efforts.
Donโt be that person that waits for good things to come. Go for great things. Shoot your shot. Make efforts. Dreams donโt appear in your sleep. They keep you from sleeping. (I think you should sleep well though.)
Put in the work. You have the power to make your dreams come true, exercise it.
TRUST GOD: trust God because he is good and he never fails. He simply doesnโt have the ability to fail you. If he fails you, heโd stop being God because failure is against his nature.
He is inherently good and faithful. And guess what? He is rooting for you. He wants to see you win. He is aligning things in your favour. He is supplying you with all you need.
All you have to do is believe and trust him.
BE PATIENT: this is where I fail. Lol. One of the most beautiful things that can happen to a person is growth.
Growth on the hand, is a process that requires lots and lots and lots of patience.
Be patient. Chill. Relax. Calm down. Never stop believing. Never stop hoping. It may take a longer than youโd like but eventually it will come.
Iโm saying this more to myself than anyone else because patience isnโt one of my strong points.
Feel free to listen to awesome songs while you wait. Music does wonders to your soul you know.
FAITH YOUR WAY THROUGH: faith is a miraculous phenomenon. You make Godโs job simpler and so much easier by having faith. You give him the permission to blow your mind by having faith.
Your faith encourages him to burst your brain. Faith helps you to see that God is so extra. You faith admission into the university and God grants you a scholarship as bonus just because he can.
Have faith in God. Have faith in yourself. Have faith in your journey. Act like you have all you want. Hold your head up high and walk in the promises of God. Pray it, believe it and faith it.
Faith has worked for me so many times but the human in me still hesitates to express it sometimes.
I donโt know if these things work. Iโm still trying them myself. What I know for sure is that they worked for Oprah Winfrey. (Iโm a genius, peep Oprah and her book title in one sentence.)
Iโd take my grand exit with this, as you apply yourself to being better and doing better, remember that thereโs a fun-sized human named Adejumobi somewhere rooting for you and cheering you on.
Cheers to fulfillment and abundance of peace.
