Edo Assembly Passes Signage And Advertisement Agency Bill

Edo State House of Assembly has passed a โ€œbill for a law to Establish A Body corporate to be known as โ€œThe Edo state signage and advertisement Agency; and to confer functions relating to the regulation of outdoor structures and platforms used for the display of Advertisement in Edo state, and for purposes connected thereto.

The bill was passed today, Tuesday (23/2/2021) in Benin city, after giving it a 3rd reading.

The Speaker, Rt.Hon. Amb Marcus Onobun directed that clean copies of the bill be sent to the Executive Governor for his assent.

The bill seeks to amongst others provide policy guidelines, regulations, for the development of a vibrant signage and outdoor advertisement Industry in Edo state.

If signed into law, the bill established standards, conditions, control and guidelines for the number, size and location of all outdoor advert and signage structure.

While moving the motion for adjournment, the majority leader, Hon. Henry Okhuaubo, commended the members for doing justice to the bill exhaustively.

Meanwhile, The Speaker Hon. Marcus Onobun during the plenary also announced the death of Chief Thomas Itulah, the father of the former Speaker of Edo state House of assembly. Rt Hon. Friday Itulah and also a former member of the House of Representative at the National Assembly.

He described the late chief Thomas Itulah as a great community leader in Uromi, adding that the house was ready to participate in his obsequies.
