ManUtd massacres Roma with ease as Gunners, Barcelona flaw

Thursday night witnessed the action of two thrilling matches from the stable of Old Trafford between English Legend, Manchester United and Italian Giant, Roma. Also featured was Arsenal against Villareal where Arsenal fell down flat with a mud in the face.

Arsenal went two goals down in the 5th and 30th minute where a Chukwueze-assisted wonderful strike by Trigueros opened the scoring and a tap in from Raul Albiol sealed the lead for Villarreal. As the match got intense and the pressure got high on Arsenal, Dani Ceballos got a second yellow which led to him being sent off in the 57th minute and that turned Arsenal 10-man on the pitch. Bukayo Saka stole the show again as he was fouled in the box in the 72nd minute after which Nicholas Pepe slotted in a penalty to keep Arsenal back on track. Capoue of Villarreal fouled Bukayo Saka 20 minutes after Ceballos’ red card and sustained both a severe injury and a red card as he was transported out of the pitch in a full medical stretcher after being sent off. Arsenal kept on pushing but Villareal seemed to hold on to their lead as the match finally ended in their favor but Arsenal has an advantage having secured a 1-away goal factor.

Manchester United on their part opened the lead with a sensational cavani-assisted strike by Bruno Fernandes who expertly slot the ball over the Goal Keeper. Three Roma players including the Goal Keeper got injured and were subbed off in the first 35 minutes of the game. Roma equalized in the 14th minute as Pelegrini slotted in a penalty kick in after an unintentional handball foul committed by Paul Pogba inside the box. Roma then had a comeback in the 34th minute with Pelegrini assisting Dzeko to hit the ball past DeGea into the goal post.
2nd half started with ManUtd heating the intensity until a Bruno Fernandes-assisted pass gave Edinson Cavani in the 48th minute to level up the score as he swifly and easily strikes the ball into the top right corner past the GK. Cavani also stole the show in the 63rd minute as he slots in a goal caused by the error of the Roma defenders and gave ManUtd the lead. In the 71st minute, Fernandes extended ManUtd lead by easily putting into the goal post, a penalty after Chris Smalling nudged a foul on Cavani inside the box. 4 minutes after, Luke Shaw passed a supposed corner to Bruno Fernandes who took a great cross met by Paul Pogba’s header that led to a goal and extended the lead to 5-2. Mason Greenwood was subbed in for the passive Marcus Rashford. In the 86th minute, Cavani laid a great pass to Greenwood and had another assist after Greenwood played a low-placed shot which went past the GK and into the goal post and that gave ManUtd the advantage and extreme lead they needed at Old Trafford.

La Liga contenders Barcelona also lost an opportunity to regain the top spot today by losing 2-1 at home to Granada and that leaves them in the 3rd spot as the La Liga title chase becomes hotter.

Return legs of the Champions League action continue on Tuesday and Wednesday 4th and 5th May, with ManCity taking on PSG and Chelsea taking on Real Madrid respectively. Europa League also continue on Thursday 6th May with Roma taking on ManUtd while Arsenal takes on Villareal.

Premier League returns on Saturday but the big show of the weekend is League second holder ManUtd taking on Defending champions Liverpool on Sunday.
