2023: Makinde Drops Deputy, Picks Bayo Lawal As 2023 Guber Running Mate
The purported conflict between Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and his deputy, Rauf Olaniyan, has reached a head, with the governor dismissing his deputy ahead of the state’s governorship election in 2023.
Bayo Lawal, a former Attorney-General of the state and a native of Kishi in Irepo Local Government Area of Oyo State, has been picked by the governor as his running mate come 2023.
Lawal was the state attorney-general during the government of the late Lam Adesina. And under Makinde, he served as the executive chairman of the Oyo State Housing Corporation.
It would be recalled that before the African Democratic Congress formed an agreement with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2019 election, Olaniyan was also a governorship candidate.
