Port Harcourt Refinery Receives 475,600 Barrels Of Oil, To Begin Operations

The Port Harcourt Refinery is poised to resume operations following the delivery of 475,000 barrels of crude oil by Shell Petroleum Development Company Limited.

According to Shell, this milestone was achieved through meticulous preparations, collaboration, and the dedication of teams at the Bonny Oil and Gas Terminal (BOGT) and Port Harcourt Refinery Company (PHRC).

Various activities, including pressure and leak testing to ensure pipeline integrity, were carried out at the terminal by subsidiaries of NNPC Limited, along with integrity and maintenance tasks on the Oil and Gas Terminal, BOT Refinery export pumps, and associated instrumentations.

The resumption of crude oil supply from the Bonny Oil and Gas Terminal to Port Harcourt Refinery is hailed as a significant achievement and a catalyst for the industry and the nation.

The collaboration and dedication of both teams played a vital role in overcoming challenges and ensuring a safe and efficient supply operation.

This milestone is expected to support the government’s goal of ensuring a steady supply of petroleum products to the downstream market and delivering associated economic benefits to the nation.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd has confirmed the completion of rehabilitation work on Area 5 Plant of the PHRC, fulfilling its commitment in this regard.
