UEFA: Mbappe Scores As PSG Defeat Real Sociedad 2-0

Kylian Mbappe scored the opening goal as Paris Saint-Germain secured a 2-0 victory over Real Sociedad in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 clash on Wednesday.
PSG’s lackluster first-half performance left fans anxious, but Mbappe’s goal just before the hour mark and Bradley Barcola’s strike in the 70th minute sealed the win for the French champions.
“We were in great difficulty in the first half but we knew that would be the case,” PSG captain Marquinhos commented. “The coach’s halftime talk helped improve our attitude, and we managed to secure a crucial win at home.”
PSG, aiming to avoid another early Champions League exit, faced pressure as Real Sociedad made their first knockout appearance in two decades without their top scorer, Mikel Oyarzabal.
Despite an unbeaten run, PSG struggled initially, with Mbappe’s early shot being their only threat. However, a breakthrough came in the second half through Mbappe’s close-range finish.
The victory gives PSG a comfortable lead ahead of the return leg in Spain, but they remain cautious given past disappointments in the competition.
