Abia Government Supports Upgrading Of General Hospital

The Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, has approved the upgrade of Amachara General Hospital and Abia Diagnostic Centre to offer highest quality of health services and offer all diagnostic services respectively.
The State Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu, disclosed this on Monday while briefing the gentlemen of the press on the outcome of this weekโs Executive Council meeting chaired by the State Governor .
The Commissioner said the council also approved the expansion of the major water facilities in the state to tackle open defecation through construction of ultra-modern facilities across the three zones of Abia, as well as the the reconstruction of the 41.4 km stretch of Ohafia โ Arochukwu Road by the state government, adding, โOtti is interested in opening up roads across the state to aid farmers and ease of transportation.โ
On the 33rd Year Celebration of Abia state, Kanu disclosed that the event will be low key and โbe a quiet day to celebrate.โ
The State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Enoch Uche, explained that in the area of internal medicine, nephrology, cardiology, surgical services and general surgery including, brain and spine surgery, obstetrics, gynecology, and eye health will be retrofitted and upgraded at the Amachara General Hospital and Abia Diagnostic Centre
He stressed that the state government has given approval for the hiring of โhigh calibreโ specialists, adding that the upgrade of the two health institutions will be in both infrastructure and services respectively.
