Edo 2024: Obaseki Comments On Rigging Election For Asue Ighodalo

The Executive Governor of Edo State, H. E Godwin Obaseki, has denied allegations made by the All Progressives Congress (APC) that he is kitting operatives of the Edo State Security Network with military uniforms to rig the September 21 governorship election.

In a statement, the APC Campaign Council alleged that Obaseki was recruiting and arming members of the Edo Security Network to intimidate voters and rig the election.

However, Governor Obaseki’s media aide, Crusoe Osagie, described the claims as “infantile” and “a cocktail of complete falsehood”.

Osagie accused the APC of attempting to distract the public from their own plans to rig the election, stating that they have been boasting of federal might and harassing innocent citizens.

He urged security agencies to investigate the APC’s allegations and ensure a level playing field for the election.

The APC had called on the military and police authorities to investigate the allegations, but Obaseki’s camp has turned the tables, accusing the APC of planning to rig the election themselves.

The governor’s aide called on security agencies to have all hands on deck to ensure a free, fair, and credible election in Edo State.
