D’Tigress Makes History, Becomes First African Team to Break into FIBA Top 10

Nigeria’s female basketball team, D’Tigress, has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first African team to break into the top 10 of the FIBA world rankings.

In the latest rankings released by the world basketball governing body, D’Tigress jumped four spots to secure the eighth position globally.

This remarkable achievement can be attributed to their impressive performance at the Paris Olympics, where they defeated Australia and Canada in the group stage, becoming the first African team to compete in the Quarter-Finals.

Although their run was eventually stopped by the USA in the Quarter-Finals, their brilliant performance earned head coach Rena Wakama the best coach of the women’s basketball event.

The US, Olympic champions, retain the top spot in the global ranking, followed by Australia and France, with China and Spain completing the top five teams in women’s basketball.

D’Tigress’ historic rise in the world ranking is a testament to their hard work and dedication, making them a force to be reckoned with in international women’s basketball.
