Former Governor Duke Slams Tinubu’s Lavish Spending Amidst Economic Crisis
Former Cross River Governor Donald Duke has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s decision to purchase a new presidential jet and yacht, citing the country’s severe economic crisis.
On Channels Television’s “Inside Sources” program, Duke called it a “failure of leadership” to prioritize luxury items while Nigerians suffer.
Duke stressed that a leader should prioritize their people’s well-being, saying, “If life is difficult, then I feel I’ve failed to provide for them or do the things I ought to have done.”
He urged Tinubu to view the nation as his family and address the economic struggles.
Duke also referenced the recent #EndBadGovernance protests, stating that they indicate Tinubu’s failure to provide for Nigerians.
He advised the President to reassess his policies, including the currency floatation, and address corruption, security, and judicial reforms.
Duke advocated local solutions to economic issues, rather than relying on the Bretton Woods system.
