Obi, Others In Talks To Form Alliance Ahead Of 2027 Election
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has confirmed that opposition leaders Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Kwankwaso are in discussions to form an alliance for the 2027 presidential election.
According to PDP deputy national spokesman Ibrahim Abdullahi, the trio is exploring ways to put aside personal interests and unite against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Abdullahi stated that the PDP’s past leadership failures led to the departure of key figures like Nyesom Wike, Kwankwaso, and Obi, which would have secured victory in the last election if they were still part of the party.
Discussions are ongoing to bring Obi, Kwankwaso, and Wike back into the PDP, Abdullahi confirmed.
Atiku Abubakar has indicated willingness to step aside if necessary to ensure the alliance’s success, Abdullahi added.
The PDP has pledged support for either Atiku or Obi if they secure the party’s ticket.
This development comes as Nigerians prepare for the 2027 presidential election, with the opposition seeking to capitalize on the current administration’s shortcomings.
In a related development, Abdullahi noted that the proposed alliance seeks to address Nigeria’s current challenges, including hunger and insecurity, with the ultimate goal of defeating the APC in 2027.
