Ex-Minister Reacts To Calls For Tinubu To Resign

Former Minister of Communications, Chief Adebayo Shittu has dismissed calls for President Bola Tinubu’s resignation as “misguided” and “treasonable.”

Shittu, speaking in an interview, argued that it’s too early to judge Tinubu’s government, which has only been in office for over a year.

Shittu’s comments come amidst growing discontent from some northern politicians, who have accused Tinubu of unfair policies and marginalization, however, Vice President Kashim Shettima has denied these allegations.

Shittu attributed the criticism to “frustrated political personalities” thinking “undemocratically and irrationally.”

He pointed out that Nigeria’s problems didn’t arise overnight and that Tinubu’s government has made progress, including tackling corruption.

Cornelius Ojelabi, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos, echoed Shittu’s sentiments, saying it’s unfair to assess Tinubu’s performance after just one year in office.

Ojelabi expressed confidence in Tinubu’s ability to address Nigeria’s challenges and achieve his Renewed Hope Agenda.

The calls for Tinubu’s resignation have been led by figures like Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed and Abdulaziz Suleiman, a spokesman for the Northern Elders Forum.

However, Shittu and Ojelabi have defended the President, arguing that he deserves more time to implement his policies and address the country’s problems.
