Gunmen Abduct Oyo PDP Chieftain

A prominent leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Benedict Akika, has been kidnapped at his residence in Olorunda, Lagelu Local Government Area, on Wednesday night by armed gunmen who stormed his home and threatened to shoot anyone who resisted.

The victim was taken away to an unknown location after a sporadic gunshot was fired to scare residents and passersby, according to eyewitnesses and family sources.

Polity Reporters learnt that Benedict Akika had recently empowered widows and the less privileged with work tools worth millions of naira at his residence.

According to Punch, the Oyo State Police Command has yet to confirm the incident, as the Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, was unreachable at press time.
