The tension revolves around the status of Rivers State party congresses, with Wike and the PDP governors backing different factions.

The governors have taken sides with Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, while Wike has warned them to stay out of the matter or face consequences.

The PDP governors are demanding the annulment of the ward and local government congresses conducted in Rivers State, which gave Wike control of the party structure.

Wike, however, responded with a threat to “put fire” in their states if they continue to interfere.

The PDP NWC meeting was expected to address the disagreements, but the postponement has raised concerns about the party’s ability to manage its internal conflicts.

The party has also alleged that the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government is behind its internal conflicts and turmoil within other opposition parties.

The APC has denied the allegations, stating that the PDP’s inability to manage its own affairs is a sign of weakness.
