Tragedy Strikes in Lagos Church As Woman Collapses, Dies While Sharing Testimony

A devastating incident occurred at the Ministry Church in the Ejigbo area of Lagos State on Sunday, September 8, 2024, when a 55-year-old woman, identified as Ifeoma, collapsed and died while sharing a testimony during the morning service.

According to reports, the incident happened around 8:48 am, and Ifeoma was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident to newsmen on Wednesday.

Eyewitnesses stated that Ifeoma had gone to the front of the church, singing songs of gratitude, as she prepared to give her testimony.

Suddenly, she slumped and was quickly taken to the hospital. She was confirmed dead at the General Hospital in Isolo despite efforts to save her.

The police report revealed that the church’s zonal accountant reported the incident, stating that Ifeoma was rushed to the hospital but was later referred to the General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The family of the deceased took her corpse to Anambra State for burial.

This tragic incident is the second reported case of a sudden death in a religious setting in Lagos this year as in May 2024, a 30-year-old man drowned while praying at Elegushi Beach.

The cause of Ifeoma’s death is yet to be determined, and the incident has left the church and many in shock.
