Peter Obi Challenges Tinubu To Travel By Road, Use Local Hospitals 

Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, has urged President Bola Tinubu to demonstrate leadership by addressing the high cost of governance in Nigeria.

Obi spoke at a press conference in Abuja, emphasizing the need for Tinubu to lead by example by patronizing local hospitals and visiting educational institutions to understand the state of the nation’s healthcare and education sectors.

Obi decried the high level of corruption and escalating cost of governance, which he claimed have contributed to the country’s growing public debt.

He insisted that borrowings must be tied to developmental projects rather than consumption.

The former Anambra State governor also criticized government officials for frequent foreign trips in 2024, alleging that public funds have been mismanaged under the current administration.

To truly understand the struggles of Nigerians, Obi asked that Tinubu should travel by road occasionally and spend festive seasons in various regions.

He condemned the endemic poverty, security issues, and hunger crisis plaguing the country, stressing that the new minimum wage has not alleviated these problems.

Obi’s call for Tinubu to lead by example is a response to the President’s recent display of power, which included a 124-vehicle convoy during a visit to Lagos State.

Obi argued that leaders must lead by example, make sacrifices and demonstrate empathy towards the people they serve.
