Amaechi Under Fire As Group Petitions EFCC

Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has come under attack over his recent political statements.
A coalition of pro-democracy groups, Concerned Democrats, accused Amaechi of attempting to incite unrest in Nigeria.
The former governor of Rivers State was recently in the news over his remarks on the 2027 general elections.
Amaechi at an event in Abuja said that Nigerian politicians often resort to extreme measures to win elections, urging the electorates to team up against the All Progressives Congress, APC, administration ahead of 2027
โThe politician is there in Nigeria to steal, maim, and kill to remain in power. If you think Tinubu will give it to you, you are wasting your time,โ he said.
Addressing a press conference in Abuja, the convener of the coalition, Ndubisi Nwogwu, warned Amaechi and other politicians against using โdesperation to destabilize the countryโ.
The coalition also issued a 72-hour ultimatum to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to reopen and investigate all pending corruption allegations against the former minister.
They stressed that Nigeria has moved beyond an era where โpolitical losers could manipulate public sentiment for personal gainโ, urging citizens to reject such incitement.
Highlighting the Tinubu administrationโs efforts in economic reforms, infrastructure, and security, the group called on Nigerians to support lawful governance and hold leaders accountable through democratic means rather than resorting to violence.
