Bibire Mourns Afenifere Leader, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, Says Men Like Him Are Uncommon

Honourable Abayomi Fagbenro-Bibire has joined the Yoruba socio-cultural and political organization, Afenifere, in mourning the passing of Pa Ayo Adebanjo.

Recall that Polity Reporters had earlier reported that Adebanjo died on Friday morning at his residence in Lekki, Lagos State as confirmed by the family in a statement made available to newsmen.

Reacting to the sad development, the Oyo PDP chieftain emphatically described his death as a significant loss to the Yoruba people and Nigeria at large, affirming that Pa Ayo Adebanjo was an upright man and that men like him are rare.

Bibire, in a release made available to Polity Reporters today, Friday, conveyed his condolences to the people and government of Ogun State, as well as to the family, friends, and associates of the elder statesman who, according to him, served the Yoruba people and Nigerians with his heart and every available resource.

He stated, “Today is a sad day for me because the Yoruba community and Nigeria at large have just lost a man who distinguished himself by always standing for the truth, especially on issues affecting the Yoruba people and the progress of Nigeria.”

“Without mincing words, I must categorically state that he was an upright man, and men like him are hard to come by,” he added.

He further noted that his wise counsel, borne out of humility, deep reflection, diligent study, and extensive experience, will be sorely missed by all and sundry, most especially governments at various levels, as he consistently provided a clear roadmap for development.

The retired US Navy veteran also commended the instrumental role of Pa Adebanjo in founding and sustaining Nigeria’s democracy, stressing that he will be remembered and that posterity will be grateful for his great sacrifices.

Bibire prayed that Almighty God will receive the soul of the departed leader and comfort his family and all who mourn his passing.
