Bibire Congratulates Mr. Speaker at 38, Extols Fine Virtues

Prominent Oyo PDP chieftain, Honourable Abayomi Fagbenro-Bibire has joined members and leaders of the Oyo State PDP in felicitating the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin Edward, on the occasion of his 38th birthday.

Recall that the first among equals in the Oyo State House of Assembly turned 38 today, February 17, 2025.

In a congratulatory message issued by his Media Unit and forwarded to Polity Reporters on Monday, Bibire communicated greetings to the family, friends, and associates of the seasoned speaker, whom he described as “one of the best Speakers in the history of Oyo State, and in Nigeria.”

In the message, he stated partly, “When I watched plenaries and unfolding debates in the House of Assembly, I noticed that Mr Speaker always defend, passionately, the best interests of the good people of Oyo State and advocated for issues that will only promote growth and development in our beloved state.

“Mr. Speaker impressed me early on as a committed member of the House, and I was delighted to see him eventually become the Speaker of the House. I appreciate his constituency for keeping him there by re-electing him in 2023.

“I want to say without mincing words that you are one of the best Speakers Oyo State has ever produced and in the history of Nigeria, and that your consistency, doggedness, firmness, and sincerity of purpose are unparalleled.

“Today, everyone is speaking highly of you, and, I can assure you that history and posterity will always be kind to you for staying true to your beliefs, supporting the Engr. Seyi Makinde-led administration, and showing passion for the welfare and progress of Oyo State.”

Honourable Abayomi Fagbenro-Bibire further commended the Speaker for dispelling the notion with his actions and deeds over the years that considerable development is unattainable when the Legislative and Executive Arms are not in conflict.

He attributed the unprecedented growth and development across Oyo State to the excellent synergy between Mr. Speaker and the Governor—a formula, he noted as ideal for any state or polity seeking immense progress.

The retired US Navy veteran added that he is extremely impressed by the Speaker’s performance since he assumed the office of the Chairman of the Conference of Speakers, State Legislatures.

“I am deeply impressed and pleased with your performance since your emergence as the Chairman of the Conference of Speakers, State Legislatures.

“As evidenced by past and recent developments, you have initiated groundbreaking policies, programmes, initiatives, and projects, that have earned global applause. This has further given credence to your unbending commitment to redefining legislative excellence in Nigeria.

“And, in this very capacity, I have full confidence in you to continue making Oyo State proud,” he said.

Bibire wished the “Speaker of all Speakers” increased wisdom, knowledge, and understanding to continue steering the affairs of the Hallowed House against all odds.

He concluded with a fervent prayer that Almighty God would grant the celebrant—who is the youngest in the history of both the Oyo State House of Assembly and Nigeria—long life, good health, and the wisdom to keep serving the state and the nation at large.
