Ukraine: Russian Delegation Arrives Saudi Arabia For Talks With US

A high-level Russian delegation, including Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov and Kremlin aide, Yuri Ushakov, have arrived Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for direct talks with officials of the United States, US.

Addressing reporters after landing, Ushakov said: “The main thing is to begin a real normalization of relations between us and Washington.”

Similarly, the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, arrived Riyadh ahead of the peace deal aimed at bringing an end to the Russia-Ukraine war.

Speaking at the Saudi capital, Rubio said the meeting will focus on ending the war in Ukraine and restoring “the whole complex” of Russia-US ties.

Senior US officials including Secretary of State, Marco Rubio are due to meet on Tuesday with Lavrov for talks focused on ending the war in Ukraine and strengthen the relationship between Russia and US.

The talks which is the first high-level discussions in years between Russian and US government officials, will set the ball rolling for a parley between President Donald Trump and his Russian Counterpart, Vladimir Putin.

Speaking with reporters, Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said the meeting will restore the complex Russian-American relationship.

Peskov said: “They are expected to hold a meeting with their American counterparts on Tuesday, which will focus primarily on restoring the entire complex of Russian-American relations.

“It will also be devoted to the preparation of possible negotiations on the Ukrainian settlement and the organisation of a meeting between the two presidents.”
