Bibire Preaches Unity, Peace, Steadfast Devotion In Eid-al-Fitr Message, Seeks Continued Support For Gov. Makinde

Respected PDP chieftain in Oyo State, Hon. Abayomi Fagbenro-Bibire has communicated warm greetings to Muslims in Ibadan Southwest and Northwest Federal Constituency, Oyo State, Nigeria, and across the world on the occasion of Eid-al-Fitr.

This was contained in a congratulatory statement he personally signed and made available to Polity Reporters today, Sunday, to celebrate the occasion.

Bibire, in the statement, described Eid-al-Fitr as a “momentous occasion that symbolizes the successful completion of the Holy Month of Ramadan among Muslims worldwide.”

According to him, “The Holy Month of Ramadan affords us the golden opportunity to renew our thoughts and deeds toward our Creator and humanity by embracing the core themes of Islam, including peace, boundless love for one another, sincerity, holiness, and respect for humanity.”

The renowned philanthropist who donated over N6m during the fasting period, stressed that these values should not be limited to Ramadan alone but should be practiced beyond the holy month to help address the multiple challenges of Nigeria and build a better and working polity.

“Importantly, these values should not end with Ramadan, but they should be effortlessly demonstrated afterward to alleviate the plight of our country and transform her into a nation where current socioeconomic and political challenges will become things of the past,” he stated.

The retired US Navy veteran equally expressed hope that the spiritual lessons of Ramadan, along with the teachings of the Holy Prophet on piety, love, justice, equity, peaceful coexistence, tolerance, and dedication to duty, would continue to guide people’s interactions and daily lives.

He urged Islamic religious leaders, from Emirs to Sheikhs and Imams, to continuously remind their followers of these values beyond Ramadan and called on all Nigerians to sustain their prayers for peace, restoration, and stability in the country.

“Let our prayers for Nigeria go beyond the Ramadan season. Let’s continue to pray for peace, and stability,” he added.

He heightened the importance of unity, stating that Nigerians must remain indivisible regardless of religion, ethnicity, morality, or politics, as unity is a strong weapon for national progress.

Hon. Fagbenro-Bibire further made an appeal to the good people of Oyo State to continue supporting the pro-people programs and developmental strides of Governor Seyi Makinde, which he said have positioned the state as a model for others in Nigeria.

He also called on Nigerians to remain steadfast in the pursuit of a better nation and to choose leaders based on competence and vision rather than sympathy or monetary incentives as 2027 elections draw near.

“As we approach the 2027 election, let us not give up on the quest for a better nation. Leadership should not be based on sympathy or financial gain, but on competence and a strong will to take Nigeria to greater heights,” he advised.

He concluded by felicitaing all Muslims celebrating Eid-al-Fitr with a fervent prayer that God Almighty will spare their lives to witness many more in good health, stable peace, and abundant blessings.

“It is with immense joy that I write to say happy Eid-al-Fitr to all Muslim faithful in Ibadan Southwest and Northwest Federal Constituency, Oyo State, Nigeria, and across the world.

“Eid-al-Fitr is a joyous and momentous occasion that represents the successful completion of the Holy Month of Ramadan, a period of devotion, self-discipline, and spiritual growth for Muslims worldwide.

“Ramadan presents us with a golden opportunity to renew our hearts and minds, drawing closer to our Creator while deepening our commitment to humanity. It reminds us of the core principles of Islam—peace, boundless love, sincerity, holiness, and respect for one another.

“However, these values should not be confined to the holy month alone. They should be reflected in our daily lives beyond Ramadan, serving as a guide in our quest for a better society—one where justice, equity, and prosperity thrive, and our nation’s many challenges become things of the past.

“I sincerely hope that the lessons of Ramadan and the teachings of the Holy Prophet (SAW) on piety, justice, love, peaceful co-existence, and dedication to duty will continue to define our interactions and way of life.

“I urge our religious leaders—Emirs, Sheikhs, and Imams—to continue placing the needed premium on these teachings, ensuring they remain a guiding light for all Muslims.

“Likewise, our prayers for Nigeria must not stop with Ramadan; we must persist in seeking divine intervention for peace, stability, and national restoration.

“As citizens, let us stand united, refusing to be divided along religious, ethnic, or political lines. Our unity remains a powerful force in the collective pursuit of national progress.

“I also take this moment to call on the good people of Oyo State to sustain their ab initio strong support for Governor Seyi Makinde, whose people-centered programs and developmental strides continue to place our state at the forefront of progress.
