Bibire Mourns Ambassador Adefope, Hails Her Life of Service

Honourable Abayomi Fagbenro-Bibire, a chieftain of the PDP, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Ambassador Ibironke Vaughan‑Adefope, who served Nigeria with distinction as High Commissioner, and was a respected member of the Oyo State Council of Elders until her passing at the age of 73.
Bibire, who described her death as sad and a rude shock, said that Nigeria has lost a highly respected diplomat and mother-figure.
He added that Ambassador Adefope was a woman of many parts who served the country faithfully as High Commissioner to Zambia and Malawi, and gave her all to the service of the good people of Oyo State as a member of the Oyo State Council of Elders.
He made this known while reacting to the sad development in a condolence message he signed and made available to Polity Reporters on Tuesday.
He further maintained that her leadership and humanitarian efforts will forever be remembered, having contributed immensely to the growth, development, and progress of both the country and Oyo State.
The retired US Navy veteran confessed that she was never afraid to speak the truth and her strong voice in public affairs, ditto for her pro-masses stance, would be missed by all and sundry.
Bibire recalled how she treated everyone with respect and made people feel welcome and valued no matter their position.
He established very strongly that her death is not just a loss to her family, but a monumental one to the whole of Oyo State, Nigeria, Africa, and the world at large, as he said “we have lost one of our most respected and influential leaders.”
Bibire commiserated with Governor Seyi Makinde and the Oyo State Government, wished the family of the deceased strength and comfort in this challenging time, and prayed for the sweet repose of the soul of Ambassador Ibironke Adefope.
