Buhari Suspends Nigeria Ports Authority MD, Hadiza Bala-Usman

The Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Ms Hadiza Bala-Usman has been suspended by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Hadiza, who was recently re-appointed for second term, was suspended by President Buhari on Thursday over the manner she was appointed for the second term, The Nation learnt.
A senior official of the Federal Ministry of Transportation, who does not want his name in print, confirmed her suspension to The Nation.
He said Bala-Usman was suspended but the Ministry of Transportation will give the circumstances behind her removal on Friday.
Sources told The Nation the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi and other senior members of the Ministry were in Jos for a programme where he is scheduled to brief the press on the issue.
The source said: “Yes, the Managing Director of NPA has been suspended from office but the reason for her suspension is not yet clear but I can confirm to you that she has been suspended.’
He said Executive Director, Finance and Administration of the agency, Mr Mohammed Bello-Koko, has been appointed as the Acting Managing Director of the Authority.
