Fire Engulfs Residential Building In Oyo

Properties worth millions of naira have been destroyed as a result of fire incident that ravaged a residential building in Eruwa in Oyo State.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, a the Ayeyewa Compound, Towobowo Anko in Eruwa.

The fire was said to have raged for more than one hour before men of the state fire service were contacted.

The private residential building of six rooms and a Boyz – quarters were affected.

Chairman of Oyo State Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande, who confirmed the incident in a statement, said the men of the agency received a distress call on Monday, but maintained that no life was lost in the incident.

“On Monday 19th May, 2025, the agency received the distress call at exactly 03:08hrs. The fire personnel led by ACFS Adegoke swiftly deployed to the scene of the fire incident and on getting there, it was a private residential building of six rooms and a Boyz – Quarters met well alight.

“We quickly swung into action and restricted the fire from spreading to nearby buildings and properties. To our dismay, the fire had been burning for more than an hour before the Fire Service was called.

“No casualty was recorded but properties worth millions were destroyed by the fire.”
