How I Financed Abia State with Personal Funds as Governor — Kalu

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu stated that he spent his personal money to run Abia State during his tenure as governor.
Kalu made this claim on Channels TV’s Politics Today program while fielding questions.
According to him, “I spend my own money being governor, like I’m spending my money today being senator.”
He added, “I used to finance the state. That is, I never benefited anything from being governor. Rather, I lost a lot of money.”
Kalu disclosed that the federal government under ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo took over many of his businesses.
He stated, “The federal government took a lot of my businesses. So for me, politics had been more dangerous under the Obasanjo federal government at the time.”
