Messi Makes History After Argentina’s Latest Victory

Argentina captain Lionel Messi on Wednesday set a new record for the most assists in international football.

The Inter Miami forward achieved the feat after providing two assists against Puerto Rico in an international friendly at Chase Stadium.

Messi assisted two goals in his side’s 6-0 win, overtaking former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain teammate Neymar’s tally for Brazil.

The 38-year-old provided an assist on each half for Argentina, taking his tally for the La Albiceleste to 60.

Messi now has one assist than Neymar has managed for Brazil.

He reached 60 assists for Argentina in 194 appearances, also scoring 114 goals in those matches.

As for Neymar, he reached 59 assists in 128 games for the Selecao.
