Ogun Lawmaker, Hon Damilare Bello (Dre) Commiserates with Anthony Joshua, Families of the Departed

Honourable Omooba Damilare Mohammed Bello (Dre), a member of the Ogun State House of Assembly representing Sagamu State Constituency 1, has expressed deep sympathy with world boxing champion Anthony Joshua and the families of those who lost their lives in yesterday’s road accident.

In a statement he personally signed and made available to Polity Reporters today, Tuesday, the performing lawmaker described the accident which occurred yesterday, December 29, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway as painful and heartbreaking.

He thanked God for sparing the life of Anthony Joshua while mourning the loss of his close associates, Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele, whose deaths he said have brought deep sadness to the Sagamu community and the boxing world.

Honourable Bello said the loss is a heavy blow and prayed that God will grant the bereaved families strength to endure the pain of losing their loved ones.

He also wished Anthony Joshua a quick physical and emotional recovery as he recovers swiftly from the incident.

The seasoned lawmaker, however, called on his constituents and other road users to be prayerful and careful on the roads during the festive season and beyond.

He added that the community remains united in support of Anthony Joshua and the families of the departed.

Honourable Bello concluded by expressing hope for peace and safety as the country, in just few hours, transitions into the new year.

“In this moment of collective grief, I extend my heartfelt condolences and prayers to our global ambassador, Anthony Joshua, following the tragic accident on December 29th along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

“While we thank God for sparing his life, our hearts are heavy as we mourn the painful loss of his close associates, Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele, whose untimely departure is a blow to the Sagamu community and the boxing world at large.

“As a representative of the people, I stand in solidarity with the bereaved families, praying for the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss, while wishing AJ a swift physical and emotional recovery.

“I urge all constituents to remain prayerful and vigilant on our roads during this season and beyond, as we hope for a peaceful transition into the New Year, united in our support for our champion and the families of the departed.”
