Bibire Congratulates Makinde, PDP On Oyo LG Election, Says Victory Affirms Party’s Acceptance

Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Honourable Abayomi Fagbenro, popularly called Bibire has joined other leaders and well wishers to congratulate the Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde and the entire PDP over the party’s resounding victory in the recently concluded LG election.

Polity Reporters had earlier reported that the PDP secured a landslide victory by winning all 33 LGAs and every available councillorship seat in the April 27 local government election in Oyo State.

In response to the outcome of the election, Bibire, in a congratulatory statement he personally signed and provided to Polity Reporters today, Monday, characterized the statewide victory of the PDP as a testament to Gov. Makinde’s effective leadership since assuming the office of the number one citizen of Oyo State, as well as a demonstration of trust and widespread acceptance of the party.

“One thing I would like everyone to note about the recently concluded local government election—marked by the overwhelming victory of the PDP—is the clear expression of trust by the people of Oyo State in Governor Seyi Makinde’s sterling performance and our party’s capacity and ability to deliver quality and effective governance to all,” Bibire said.

In his message to the newly elected chairmen and councillors, the retired US Navy Veteran hailed their victory as well-deserved, praising their resilience, determination, and steadfastness in pursuing their ambitions without resorting to any unethical and unwholesome practices that could tarnish the reputation of the PDP.

He added, “And I trust that you will leverage your positions to facilitate rapid development in your respective areas, ensuring that every resident continues to benefit from the dividends of democracy.”

To all the PDP members, Bibire thanked them for their unparalleled dedication to the campaign activities, and their crucial support for all candidates which resulted in their success at the polls. He stressed that this reiterated the unity, strength, cohesion, and supportiveness of the umbrella party, which remains attuned to present realities.

Bibire also congratulated the good people of Oyo State for the orderly conduct of the election, affirming that they remain the true winners as they were able to democratically elect their leaders for the next three years.

Similarly, he commended the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission and the law enforcement agencies for their efforts towards a peaceful election, but advocated improvements where needed.
