PDP Crises: Six Governors Set To Sabotage Party’s Chance

The crisis afflicting the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) appears to be far from finished, despite the formation of the campaign organisation for its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

The simmering conflict, which took on new dimensions last month with the selection of Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as Atiku’s running mate, began a few weeks after Iyorchia Ayu was elected National Chairman of the PDP.

According to The Sun, the growing divide has positioned six PDP governors, primarily from the South, against Atiku’s presidential campaign.

According to the source, some of the governors who have refused to endorse Atiku’s bid include Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Ishaku Darius of Taraba, and Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State.

Confirming the bad blood in the party’s ranks, Ortom warned earlier this week that he might not try to make Atiku’s presidential campaign a reality.
