Photos: Vigilantes Protecting Police Station in Rivers
Reports has indicated that a local vigilante team has been contracted to secure a police station in Rivers State against further attack by unknown gunmen.
It was gathered that the local security men were contracted by Elele community council in Ikwere Local Government area of Rivers State to protect their police station against unknown gunmen attack.
According to a tweet by Chris Okah, “Members of Elele Security and Peace Advisory Committee, ESPAC stationed at Elele Police Area Command Headquarters in Rivers state providing security for the police station.
Nigerians on social media have since reacted to the situation, wondering whether if it is now the duty of civilians to protect policemen in the country.
