UI SRC Clears OMA, Dismisses Allegation Of Financial Mismanagement

The University of Ibadan Students’ Representative Council, the Students’ Union’s legislative arm, has cleared Mr. Olalekan Michael Ajibola, the Students’ Union PRO, of all false allegations of fund misappropriation levelled against him.

This development was confirmed during the House’s plenary session today, Friday, at the SRC Chamber, Kunle Adepeju Building, which our correspondent attended.

A report detailing the conclusions of the Students’ Union disciplinary committee, which was established to investigate claims that he mismanaged funds and other wrongdoings, was obtained by Polity Reporters. However, the report contained no evidence of any financial mismanagement in contrast to what is known to the public.

Hence, Polity Reporters can confirm that this development will put to rest any speculation that he had a financial scandal or that he mismanaged the Union’s funds.

Speaking with our correspondent after the house recess, an honourable member stated that the house did not even discuss any issue relating to financial mismanagement because the Students’ Union disciplinary committee had already found him innocent of that during their 2 weeks investigation, which could be validated by their comprehensive report.

According to her, “Uites should perish any notion that he (OMA) mismanaged funds. In fact, the issue of financial mismanagement was not even addressed because the committee had already found him not guilty in their comprehensive report to the House. Anyone claiming he mismanaged funds should be considered a purveyor of fake news who hates the progress of the Union.”

An observer at the plenary session who also spoke with our correspondent said, “OMA should take up any false news, slander, or propaganda against him”, emphasising that “it is punishable under both the university law and the public law.”
