UI’SU PRO, OMA Sends Message Of Hope To Uites Amidst ASUU Strike

The Public Relations Officer of the University of Ibadan Students’ Union, Mr. Olalekan Michael Ajibola, politically known as OMA, has advised all students of the premier university to keep every hope alive amidst this trying time occasioned by the ASUU strike.

The former Majority Leader of Lord Tedder Hall, who made this disclosure in a statement forwarded to Polity Reporters yesterday Monday, assured that this unpalatable phase would soon pass, with all students returning to classes.

He said: “I am not unaware of this trying time we as students are currently experiencing as a result of the sour power struggle between ASUU and the Federal Government. But I want you to keep in mind that this phase will pass, and we will soon resume, you just need to believe it and keep hope alive.”

In a similar vein, he urged the students to make this experience permanently ingrained in their memories so that, when they also hold positions of authority, they will be constantly reminded to use their power wisely for the benefit of humanity.

“Likewise, this time should serve as a reminder to us, (as leaders of tomorrow) that when we hold positions of authority, we must always act in a way that improves the lives of regular people. We must therefore learn from history and be good students of memory by not repeating the errors of our forebears but rather finding solutions to them through our wise decisions,” he added.

He urged them once more to persevere in their efforts despite what appeared to be a temporary setback from what he described a “nightmare that would soon vanish into thin air.”

According to him, “this being the case, I want to implore you not to give up on your goals just because of a nightmare that will soon vanish into thin air.”
