Why We Are Organizing Digital Empowerment Program For Oyo Students — Oluwakay
Comrade Mustapha Oluwakayode, the General Secretary of Oyo NANS, has stated why his office is organising a Google digital skills training for every Oyo state student.
The bottom line of the digital empowerment, according to Oluwakay, who was represented by his media aide, Comrade Isaac Boluwatife, is to ensure that every student achieves their business or career ambitions, thereby greatly contributing to the growth of the national economy.
Senator Reformed, as he is popularly called, furthered that the move is in line with his principal’s electioneering promise to make Oyo state students technologically competent.
He told Polity Reporters during an interview session that the General Secretary’s office will collaborate with Google to upskill every student in the pacesetter state, particularly student-preneurs and other business-oriented students, to become digitally savvy, so that they can address problems in the digital economy.
His words: “We live in a digital age where digital skills are becoming increasingly important. Therefore, I view the digital skills training as a means of advancing one’s career’s path, improving one’s standard of living, and leveraging technology to solve difficult societal challenges, among other things.
“And there is no doubting that this is a great effort, as it clearly correlates with SDGs 4,8,9,17 of ensuring a sustainable world for all.”
According to him, the Google digital skills training would be facilitated via a YouTube Live Channel for an hour and thirty minutes on the 9th-10th and 16th-17th of April, 2022, with beneficiaries receiving certificates as well. Only registered participants, he claimed, are eligible for the certificates.
In his final remarks, Senator Reformed advised everyone to be a part of the training as it will reduce the country’s unemployment numbers, thereby making beneficiaries self reliant.
