‘You’re inviting war’ – Russia warns US, European Leaders

Russia has said that a plan to send European soldiers to Ukraine is “dangerous,” which has lowered hopes for a quick end to the war that has been going on for almost four years.
European leaders and US representatives said this week that after the war, Ukraine will get promises of security.
These promises will include a system led by the US to watch over things, and a group of countries from Europe working together to help protect Ukraine once the fighting ends.
But Moscow has kept saying it won’t accept any NATO countries sending their troops to Ukraine.
Maria Zakharova, a spokesperson for Russia’s foreign ministry, said on Thursday that all these units and facilities will be treated as valid military targets by the Russian armed forces.
She repeated a warning that President Vladimir Putin had already made before.
She called the plan “dangerous” and “destructive” and said Kyiv’s allies were creating an “axis of war.”
German leader Friedrich Merz stated that a pause in fighting in Ukraine is still “a long way off” because Russia is not willing to agree to it.
Merz told reporters on Thursday that “the order should be: first, a ceasefire, and then long-term security guarantees for Ukraine in a deal with Russia.
“Without Russia’s agreement, all of this is not possible, and we are likely still a long way from getting that agreement.”
Meanwhile, the US embassy in Kyiv warned on Thursday that a major air attack might happen anytime in the coming days.
Ukrane President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy also mentioned the warning in his nighttime speech, saying that “there might be another big Russian attack” during the night, but he didn’t give more details.
The Ukrainian president said it’s very important to pay attention to air raid alerts and told Ukrainians to go to shelter when they are asked to.
