“The Apple Never Falls Far From The Tree” — Fagbenro Bibire Reflects On Father’s Legacy On 30th Remembrance

Renowned philanthropist Honourable Abayomi Fagbenro, popularly called Bibire, has offered glowing words in memory of his late father, Pa Olawuyi Emmanuel Fagbenro, on the occasion of his 30th remembrance.

He noted that the saying “the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree” is true about his life because many of the positive traits people see in him today were inherited from his father.

Bibire, in a statement released to honour the life and times of his father, said that his father was caring to a fault, a go-getter, and a true humanitarian who greatly valued equality and genuinely believed in fairness for all.

The retired US Navy veteran noted that the impact his father made in the lives of many remains undeniable three decades after his passing, and that his sacrifices and indelible contributions to humanity still guide him in the way he lives and works.

He noted that many people from Adabeji to Odo Ona and across Apata remember his father as someone who never hesitated to offer help whenever it was needed.

He said, “A lot of people in his area from Adabeji to Odo Ona, and across the length and breadth of Apata know him as someone very helpful and one who didn’t withdraw from lending a helping hand when needed.

He added that although thirty years have gone by, there are still people alive who can speak about the good works and kind acts his father carried out while he lived.

“Also, there are still some few people that still know him, even though he’s been gone for 30 years, but there are still people alive today that can testify to the kind of good things, and all the good deeds he did while he was alive,” he stated.

He explained that his own love for helping others, which people often appreciate, along with that of his six siblings, was directly inherited from their father’s values and character.

His words, “So, I want people to know that my humanitarian gesture is what I got from him, and not only me, but all the seven children that he birthed, because all of us have that attitude of giving.”

The selfless politician also praised his father for his ability to forgive and show compassion, which he confessed enabled him very greatly to always maintain good relationships with people from different backgrounds and even with those who are not on the same page with him.

He stated that this remembrance is another chance for those who knew him and those hearing of him to think about the good he did and draw lessons that can help society today.

The leading aspirant for the House of Representatives for Ibadan Southwest and Northwest Federal Constituency under the PDP added that his father’s desire to see people live better lives is one of the main reasons he ventured into politics some years ago, and he intends to continue that purpose in the 2027 election.

He ended with a fervent prayer for God to continue to grant his father peaceful rest.
