Fagbenro-Bibire Donates Hundreds of Books To Students In Ibadan Northwest

Honourable Abayomi Fagbenro-Bibire, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, today, Thursday made a generous donation of hundreds of books to the pupils of Anwar-Islam Primary School, Eleyele, in Ibadan Northwest local government.

The renowned philanthropist, who in recent months has distributed a large number of books across the two local government areas of Ibadan Southwest and Northwest, explained that the gesture was in honour of the 30th remembrance of his beloved father, late Pa Olawuyi Emmanuel Fagbenro.

It would be recalled that on Wednesday, November 12, Honourable Abayomi Fagbenro-Bibire held a memorial service at his Adabeji residence to commemorate the 30th anniversary of his father’s passing.

Speaking with Polity Reporters, he said that the donation was an extension of the remembrance of a man who dedicated his entire life to humanity.

He said, “Yesterday we celebrated the memory of my dear father who was known for his generosity and commitment to people’s welfare, and I felt that the remembrance should not just stop there, but be followed by actions that reflect his values.”

He further explained that the choice of education as the focus of his gesture came after deep reflection on the legacy his father left behind.

“We realized that the future of any nation lies in the quality of education its children receive, so we decided to contribute in our own way by supporting these young ones who will someday take up leadership positions,” he noted.

The leading aspirant for the House of Representatives, Ibadan Southwest and Northwest Federal Constituency, under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, explained that the donation was timely and necessary because the education sector in Nigeria has suffered great neglect and requires all hands on deck to revive it.

“Education in Nigeria is facing serious challenges and that is why every act of support counts, no matter how small, because when a child is given the opportunity to learn, we have sown a seed for a better tomorrow,” he said.

While presenting the books, the retired United States Navy veteran took time to advise the students on important values that would help them succeed academically and in life.

He said, “You must be diligent in your studies, obedient to your teachers, and disciplined in your daily lives because success is built on consistency and good character.”

He also used the opportunity to appreciate the effort of Governor Seyi Makinde for his continuous investment in education in Oyo State.

He said, “Let us all give a big shout to His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, for ensuring that Oyo State maintains its position as a pacesetter in education. Truly, his unexampled commitment to the future of children like you, deserves everyone’s highest applause.”

The convener of the Bibire Peoples Vision Association also expressed gratitude to the teachers for their dedication and reminded them that their work goes beyond teaching, as they are equipping the minds that will build the nation.

He said, “Teachers are the true nation builders. You are raising future leaders every day, and even when no one claps for you, heaven records your impact. Please keep doing your best because the greatness of our country rests on your shoulders.”

The United States based IT specialist who holds no political office also called on those in authority and private citizens alike to take education as a collective responsibility.

He said, “Whether you are in government or not, we all have a role to play in giving education the attention it deserves. Infact, you do not have to be in government to make an impact. Some of these brilliant minds have the passion but not the opportunity, and that is where we must come in to ensure that they are supported in every possible way.”

He concluded his visit with a fervent prayer for the students, asking God to bless their efforts and crown their dreams with success.

In his words, “I pray that every one of you will excel in your studies. You will break records and reach the peak of success. Your future will be bright and full of great accomplishments. And your success stories will bring honour to your families, your schools, and to this nation.”

The management of Anwar-Islam Primary School also took time to pray for Honourable Abayomi Fagbenro-Bibire, thanking God for his generosity and asking for continued blessings in his life and endeavours.

They said, “We are deeply grateful to Honourable Abayomi Fagbenro-Bibire for remembering our students and supporting their education. We pray that Allah will bless him with good health, long life, and unending success in all his undertakings.”
